Furness Rovers Under 7s are a junior football team based in
Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria.
We are part of Furness Rovers FC, who have teams at senior, under 16, under 14, under 12, under 10, under 8 and under 7 levels. The team is coached by Andy Tomkins, who is passionate about junior football in the area and ensures that all children who come to play will learn to enjoy the game and to play as a team.
The team has strong principles on learning new skills and technique, above winning matches. Andy is looking to ensure that players of all abilities will develop as individuals as well as footballers and will learn to respect others.
The Under 7s do not play ‘competitive’ matches in a league structure, instead playing in friendly matches in the local area and junior tournaments, where players get the chance to show off their new skills and techniques.
If you are aged between 4 and 7 years old you are welcome to come along to training and join what is arguably the best junior team in Barrow-in-Furness!!
Name: Andy Tomkins
Favourite team: Everton
Favourite player: Tim Cahill (current), Big Duncan Ferguson (all time favourite)
Favourite managers: Sir Alex Ferguson, Jose Mourinho, Brian Clough & David Moyes
Favourite saying:Too many but I will quote Fergie “footballers don’t walk, footballers run!”
Reason why I coach:Watching my players develop gives me the greatest buzz, I like to be entertained by watching good football so I try and get my teams to play with flair and skill, just like Everton!!!!
