Thursday 11th June 6.15pm Furness Cavaliers A Away Furness Cavaliers X     10-0 Kane and MacKenzie hit hat-tricks as Furness Rovers record an easy victory against Furness Cavaliers A
Sunday 14th June 10am Tournament Away Glaxo 1 3 4   Despite being a year younger than most other players, the team puts in a creditable performance. The first game of the day saw us take on our own A team and finish with a 1-0 victory following a stunning strike by MacKenzie.
Thursday 18th June 6.15pm Furness Cavaliers B Away Furness Cavaliers X     8-0 We scored from our first attack on a windy day at Furness Cavaliers and the writing was on the wall. Super sub, Keaton came on and completed the rout with a hat-trick and in the end everyone got a chance to play upfront as even goalkeeper John donned the strikers jersey with Ethan volunteering for a stint between the sticks.
Thursday 9th July 6.15pm Furness Rovers A Home Ostley Bank X     1-0

Our boys show that their win in the Glaxo tournament was no fluke by defeating the A Team again 1-0. The scoreline in no way flatters a great team performance by our boys, who looked very strong from back to front and created more opportunities than their older opponents. Bailey and Morgan stood out in attacking positions with their pace and ability to run past an opponent, but also the tenacity and passing out from the back by Jack, Ethan and Reece set the platform for the win. Another mention needs to go to Matthew who made his debut for us in the centre of midfield and had a solid game in both defensive and attacking positions. Yet another clean sheet for goalkeeper John, who made some good saves and has a terrific kick which launches our team into attack.

Thursday 3rd September 6.00pm Furness Cavaliers A Away Furness Cavaliers        PP  Match called off due to weather.
Sunday 6th September 12 noon Furness Cavaliers B Away Furness Cavaliers       X  0-4  In what was always going to be a tough match, Furness Rovers U7s played to the best of their ability against a team a year older. Charlie and Joel both had good debuts and Ethan had a strong game in goals for the first time. Although the final score was 4-0 to Cavs the whole team battled well and played the better football. Andy saw areas that need improvement, but these will come with time.Lewis and Morgan played well and McKenzie showed flashes of skill upfront. The team was: - Ethan, Jack, Joel, Kane, Lewis, Morgan, Bailey, McKenzie, Charlie, and Keaton.
Sat 12th Sept 10am Black Combe Home  Soccer bar    x    2-2  On a sunny morning that was ideal for football our first season started.  Against a strong tackling Black Coombe team it was not long before both teams were making chances.  Keaton made some good saves and wingers Bailey and Kane were probing down the flanks, however Black Coombe took the lead. However heads never went down and when Furness Rovers were awarded a free kick within shoting range. Morgan showed what a dangerous player he is, fromset pieces by finding the top cornerto equalise. Starting the second half at 1-1, it was Black Coombe who started brighter and agin took the lead. However after this goal they rarely threatened again through good defending by Reece and Ethan, and powerful midfield play by Lewis. Chances were opening up  for strikers McKenzie and David. With 5 minutes to go Black Coombe payed the cost for giving away another free kick. Morgan crossed for Lewis to tap in to make thescore 2-2. However time ran out for either team to find a winner. This was a excellent performance by the under 7s, and made everyone very proud. Team: Keaton, Ethan, Jack, Kane, Lewis, Morgan, Bailey, McKenzie, David and Reece.
Sat 19th Sept 10am Crooklands Away Crooklands    x    2-2

Although the result was the same as the previous week this was a diiferent game in many ways.  Rovers went behind when they were unable to clear a corner but once again the young side showed battling qualities.  Despite being 1-0 down at half time it was Rovers who bossed all the second half with Jack and Ethan looking very strong in defence.  Rovers levelled when pressure from Kane resulted in Bailey finding the net. This was followed by McKenzie scoring from Morgans dangerous corners.  However in the last minute Crooklands scored with their only attack in the second half.  Lessons were learnt from the game and will benefit everyone in the future. It was an excellent performance by the whole team.  Team:- Ethan, Jack, Reece, Kane, Morgan, Lewis, Bailey, McKenzie, Matthew, Keaton.

Thurs 24th Sept 6 pm Furness Cavs U7 Away Rampside Road  x      2-1  Rovers earned a well deserved victory thanks to two late goals by McKenzie. The first half was entertaining, however there were no goals as both midfield battled for control of the game. David went close on several opportunities but at half time the score was nil nil. The second half was a more open game, with both teams going close. It was Cavs who took the lead from a corner due to a mix up at the near post by Rovers. However heads never went down and Rovers scored from an ecellent corner from Kane and McKenzie was on hand to turn the ball into the net.  Then in the last minute a superb run down the right from Kane and a pinpoimt cross left Mckenzie with a easy finish.  Team Jack, Ethan, Joel, Harvey, Matthew, Keaton, Charlie, David, Kane, Charlie
Sat 26th Sept 10.45am Walney Home Soccer Bar      x  0-4  Although the score showed a heavy defeat the spirit showed by the young Rovers team was excellent.  A half time score of 3-0 did not reflect the first half where the first goal could have gone to Rovers after a dangerous Morgan free kick resulted in both McKenzie and Matthew being inches from scoring.  Moving Lewis back into midfield in the second half meant that the midfield battle was starting to turn Rovers way. With Ethan And Matthew being strong in defence and David and Bailey skilful in attack the whole team performance was a credit against a much bigger Walney team. Team:- Lewis, Jack, Ethan, Bailey,Kane, Morgan, Matthew, McKenzie, David.
Sat 3rd Oct 10am Furness Rovers A Home Ostley Bank      x  1-6  A windy morning at Ostley Bank provided the boys with a stiff test as they went down 6-1 to the Furness Rovers A Team.

The spirit of the game was tarnished when the A Team insisted the match was played as a 7-a-side game, meaning three six year olds had to sit on the side lines in cold and wet conditions. Considering both teams represent Furness Rovers it was a shame that an 8-a-side game could not be agreed to ensure all boys had the chance to play and have fun.

The older A Team lads handled the conditions and the thick grass better than the younger team and made their superior size and power count, although our boys never stopped working, kept their shape and listened to Andy's coaching. They were rewarded in the second half when Macca fired home a consolation goal.
Sun 4th Oct 11.30am Crooklands U7 Away Crooklands  x      6-1  Just a day later and the under 7's took on Crooklands Under 7s at Crooklands on a sunny morning.

The pitch looked fantastic and helped the young children to pass the ball around. Furness Rovers looked a class above their opponents and it wasn't long before Morgan scored his first of 5 goals.

The game was played as 4 quarters of 10 mins each and all players were able to get a good run out and enjoy the game.

Furness Rovers would like to thank Crookland Cavaliers for hosting the match and wish them good luck with the development of their junior section.
Sat 10th Oct 10.00am Duddon Sports Home Ostley Bank  x      6-0  Our boys recorded their first league win of the season with a fine 6-0 defeat of Duddon Sports at Ostley Bank.

Macca, Keaton, Morgan and Lewis each hit a goal, but it was super-sub David who edged the man of the match with a well taken brace and an air of confidence in his all round play.

Macca and Jack receive special praise for taking on the goalkeeper duties, but we are hopeful to have a goalkeeper in place in the next couple of weeks.

Team: Macca, Reece, Jack, Kane, Lewis, Bailey, Keaton, Morgan, David, Matthew
Sat 17th Oct 10.00am Furness Cavaliers A Away Rampside Road      x   0-8

The score did not reflect the whole although well beaten Rovers should have scored 1 or 2. Special mention shoul go to Mathew in his first game in goals.

Team:- Matthew, Reece, Ethan, Jack, Lewis, Bailey, Kane, Morgan, McKenzie, Keaton

Sat 24th Oct 10.00am Furness Cavaliers B Home Ostley Bank      x  2-4

Following their thumping at the hands of Cavaliers A last week and a 6-1 riendly defeat to Cavs B in pre-season, we certainly went into this game as underdogs.

The team performed superbly in monsoon conditions, passing the ball around, using the width of the pitch and standing up to the physical size difference of their older opponents.

Aftre going 1-0 down, Morgan hit a trademark, thunderbolt free-kick to level the scores. Cavs then went 3-1 ahead with some great finishing, despite the heroics of new goalkeeper, Matt, who has already shown a natural talent and bravery between the posts.

Rovers kept attacking and got to within 1 goal when Keaton beat his man, turned and struck a sweet shot into the bottom corner.

Towards the end Rovers fought for the equalizer, but they were undone by a Cav's breakaway which meant the game finished 4-2. Both teams came off the pitch happy and the standard of football from all the players was excellent.

Team: Matt, Jack, Ethan, Kane, Macca, Bailey, Morgan, David, Matthew, Keaton

Two unsavoury episodes, which I want to highlight and MUST be eradicated from our home matches.

1. One of our boys slid through some dog mess. Ostley Bank is used for junior football, anyone exercising their dog on the field MUST ensure that any excrement is removed. If any dog is caught fouling the field, the owner WILL be prosecuted.

2. Furness Rovers support the RESPECT CAMPAIGN, anyone abusing a player, member of staff or match official will be asked to leave the field and will be banned from future Furness Rovers matches.

In awful conditions Furness Rovers played some excellent football, with the whole team giving 100%.

Team: Matt, Reece, Jack, Kane, Lewis, Bailey, Keaton, Morgan, McKenzie
